I "Big Four" del thrash — METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH e ANTHRAX — hanno suonato per la prima volta su un palco degli Stati Uniti sabato 23 aprile all'Empire Polo Club di Indio, California, davanti a 50000 fan.

Il chitarrista degli SLAYER Jeff Hanneman, costretto a saltare gli show della band per un'operazione al braccio destro, è stato protagonista di un'apparizione a sorpresa, raggiungendo i compagni per "South Of Heaven" e "Angel Of Death" (il chitarrista degli EXODUS Gary Holt ha preso il suo posto durante il concerto).

L'attesissima performance corale delle quattro band è avvenuta vicino alla fine del set dei METALLICA, tra "Enter Sandman" e "Hit The Lights". Membri di ANTHRAX, SLAYER e MEGADETH hanno raggiunto i METALLICA sul palco per la cover dei DIAMOND HEAD "Am I Evil?" prima che i METALLICA ponessero fine alla serata con la classica "Seek And Destroy".
